Mr Thirlwell is back with a new, quite painful release. Most industrial purists disagree with his enthronement in their cold, heavy pantheon but most of these guys never heard of Monte Cazazza. Glad I got that out of my system.
Back to the record. Considering myself an industrial purist and a great fan of his work I found it kind of difficult to comprehend what he was trying to accomplish in this release. In the DVD following the cd he explains that he’s tired of his “noise rock” genreification and that he tries to do something else.
To a new listener I’d strongly recommend his “HOLE” album back from 1983. If you’re anxious though to get a sample of his new turn just check “aladdin reverse” or “how to vibrate”.
