Absurd Minds, formed in 1995 by Stefan Grobmann (voice, composing) and Tilo Ladwig (composing, programming, sampling) and so far they have proved they are here to stay. Mostly influenced by the early 90's EBM music scene, with lyrics referring to the exploration of religion, spiritual paths, the human every-day struggle, the media, or even dreams, Absurd Minds manage to speak directly to the listener, exhorting us to think by ourselves. After all "The perception, selects and makes the universe you see" as they say...
EBM.gr: What inspires Absurd Minds to write their music?
AM: Everything that has an effect on us on a daily basis is processed and flows into our thoughts and with it in our creations Music develops and changes. As new trends and new styles appear they find access to our brain. So the individual taste changes or increases and new ideas find place in our own work.
EBM.gr: Which bands influenced and inspired you?
AM: Musically we have our roots in the Elektro scene of the early 90's. However, our influences are more multilayered and contain every form of music like rock, pop, soundtracks, classical and so on....
EBM.gr: Is there a case where you really liked a remix of one of your songs done by another band and which one?
AM: We like all published remixes. However, each of us has, depending on his individual music taste, his favourites.
EBM.gr: How do you choose which songs to play at live concerts?
AM: For a concert we mostly select songs which are powerfull and up-tempo so as to animate the public to dance. After all, we want to celebrate together.
EBM.gr: What is your favourite Absurd Minds song?
AM: Each of us favours different songs. However, we all like „Self Impossed“ very much.
EBM.gr: What does the band do when not recording or not on tour?
AM: We all have our jobs. Music is a hobby for us.
EBM.gr: Which one was your favorite Live concert and why?
AM: The Wave Gotik Treffen concert this year (2007) has moved us very much and was certainly a highlight (climax) for us. We never played for so many people before and the atmosphere was magnificent!
EBM.gr: What was the most funny thing that happened to the band while recording or on tour?
AM: An anecdote: a Scottish guy said to us during a concert in Edinburgh: all people in Scotland believe (Project) Pitchfork and us (Absurd Minds) would have the same singer!
EBM.gr: What would you the band like to do that you haven't done yet? (Play live somewhere or play with someone?)
AM: A US-tour
EBM.gr: Do the words of fans influence the way you write and play music? if someone tells you he/she liked a specific song and style or didn't like something is it going to influence your future songs/albums? Or is it that once you've made up your mind it is set and done?
AM: There are persons like friends, relatives or colleagues who are connected with our musical activity. We listen to their advice or their opinion. However, at the end we create the music after our images.
EBM.gr: Do you participate in any side-projects?
AM: At the moment not yet. We are busy enough with Absurd Minds.
EBM.gr: Thank you for your time.
