newZEROgod formed out of members from greek bands of the '90s and '00s, namely Mike Pougounas (The Flowers Of Romance, Nexus), Dimitris 'Sidhéog' Steves (The Drops, Cabin Fever, Nexus), Averkios HadJiantoniadis (The Flowers Of Romance, Heroes For Hire) and Costas Spanos (Nexus), March 2006.

During January 2006, Averkios HadJiantoniadis (former Flowers Of Romance guitar player of the Brilliant Mistakes era) returned to Greece after spending 10 years in Norway playing with his band Heroes For Hire. He met the ex-Nexus members one night in a wild party and the four of them decided to get in the studio and have some fun with the old Flowers Of Romance and Nexus songs. What initially appeared to be a looney idea of four deranged minds, soon developed into a nice thought. Sidhéog came up with a name that he was toying with for a couple of years and the New Zero God saw the light of day.We could say that this was loosely during March of 2006. The, yet, few original tracks of the band have a blend of post punk/dark wave/gothic but their set consists mostly of the Flowers Of Romance and Nexus songs.

The band members:

Averkios HadJiantoniadis, guitar

Jim Sidhéog Steves, drums

Mike Pougounas, vox

Costas Spanos, bass

NEXUS bio: [Taken from the Cyberdelia Records site (no longer available)]

Mike Pougounas leaves the Flowers Of Romance in 1998 due to several arguments with the rest of the band to form a new one, named NEXUS after the androids in the movie \"Blade Runner\". The last Flowers Of Romance guitar player Lefteris Strouggaris joins the new group as well as drummer Vangelis Papachristopoulos (ex-Divorce) and Costas Spanos, a nomAdic figure as bass player. After the release in December of the same year, of an EP titled NEXUS.

Dimitri \"Sidhéog\" Steves (ex-The Drops) replaces Papachristopoulos on the drums and the band records the pre-production of what is going to be the first full-length album of NEXUS. After leaving FM Records, Pougounas creates on March 9 CYBERDELIA RECORDS and on May 19 releases NEXUS's debut album in Greek, entitled \"6\". On the same day the band is about to support the MISSION in Athens after being invited by Wayne Hussey himself. On February 28 2001 NEXUS releases the album \"CYBERNAUT\" which gets critical acclaim by media and fans, in both Greece and abroad. Distribution is done across the continent and the UK while NEXUS tracks are featured in foreign label compilations.

Soon after, Lefteris Strouggaris leaves NEXUS to make it on his own thus having Pougounas, Steves and Spanos agree to continue as a trio using session musicians to fill in the gaps. Panos Economakis (ex-Flowers Of Romance, ex-Min Pyrovolite Ton Pianista) a guitar virtuoso and close friend to the three members is the first pick.

The \"Wrapped In Cellophane\" album is put together and George \"Rakos\" Kagialedakis, a camera magician, is recruited for what is going to be the first video footage of the band. During January 2002, the track Walking On Thin Ice (taken from the album Cybernaut) is featured in the Italian compilation Decadance Vol. 1 with bands such as Evils Toy, Grendel, Pulcher Femina and others. Cyberdelia Records releases the album Wrapped In Cellophane Soon after that, NEXUS appears on the July/August issue of the top German Music Magazine ZILLO which features, apart from an article about the band, the track These Tears Again in the Zilloscope Sampler among international bands such as Papa Roach, Filter, Soulfly, Dot Allison etc.

The band is ready for their next step. They enter the studio with lots of new ideas but most of all: no guitar player. The keyboard player George Bousounis and the dJ/engineer George Ginnis come to their aid to record a musical manifesto called: The Beat Syndicate to be released on December 2004 after a whole year of recording sessions. In the meantime, NEXUS are featured in the CD sampler of RocknRoll magazine covering the John Barry classic track The Persuaders.

On December 14 2004, The Beat Syndicate is released through Cyberdelia Records. That's the last release of Nexus. Maybe their best album so far. 6 months later, Mike, Sidheog and Costas decide to put the band in ice. Cyberdelia Records ceases to exist and for about one year the members are focused on other activities.

NEXUS Discography (All in CD format):

Albums: May 19 2000 \"6\" ; Feb 28 2001 \"Cybernaut\" ; April 1 2002 Wrapped In Cellophane, December 14 2004 The Beat Syndicate Singles: Dec 20 1998 \"Nexus\"

New Zero God news

"We are glad to announce that New Zero God are now signed to the Greek record label Puzzlemusik.
The release of the NZG album, “Fun is a four letter word” will be available for downloading during November 2009 via the well known international electronic stores.
For that reason, the band decided to upload little teasers on this profile¢s MySpace player, to give a taste of the album.

You can listen to 6 of them on the band's profile."
