Kari Berg releases book soundtrack ‘Music from Fjärilarnas stad’ – listen here!

Swedish artist Kari Berg has just released released the EP “Music from Fjärilarnas stad”, a soundtrack for the book “Fjärilarnas stad” written by Ingrid Remvall which was originally published in the middle of April 2016. The Sci-fi book tells the story of the 18-year old Vega, who lives on the poor side of the wall that surrounds the city of Vegatropolis. One night Vega defies the rules and sneaks into the area where the rich and the beautiful live. There she meets Fenix who stands for everything she wants to be. Vega starts dreaming of a new life, but underneath the city’s shiny surface dark powers stir. Vega begins to realise that there is a connection between herself and the attacks and kidnappings that have been a rising threat to society. Kari Berg had portrayed the character Vega in pictures and in a short trailer video, following the book release. Now Berg takes the collaboration a step further by giving Vega her voice. The EP “Music from Fjärilarnas stad” has four songs fitting for the atmosphere of Vega’s world. Says Berg: “I wanted Vega to get her own voice so I used my passion for acting in this project. I […]

‘Click Interview’ with Arian1: ‘We Consider Europe As The ‘Meca’ To Play The Music We Love’

Arian1 is an ‘old’ electronic duo from Peru. Set up in the early 90s by Eduardo and Cesar Leiva they started to experiment with electronic music. The Russian label Razgrom Music this year released a ‘best of’ opus entitled “Integration”, which features 17 songs from the bands career. This is a perfect opportunity to discover a real talented formation. I got in touch with Eduardo to get a bit more info and background about the band. (by Inferno Sound Diaries) Q: Living in Lima (Peru) how did you get in touch with electronic underground music and what incited you to set up Arian1? Ed: Due to wave parties, friends, music collectors, and DJs we in school set up a garage synth-pop band called Aero Balance (that was somewhere around ‘87-‘88). We at that time had the opportunity to get in touch with hi-tech samplers and drums machines, but that project dissolved in 1989. In between ‘89 and ‘92  I played the drums in 2 local rock-underground bands doing covers while my brother Cesar did the same in other underground projects. But some day in October 1992 we decided during a meeting to start a new electro project with powerful beats, […]

‘Click Interview’ with Jacky Meurisse: ‘Today You Only Need A Pc To Become An ‘Artist’

Jacky Meurisse belongs to the pioneers of EBM, but he first of all is a visionary electro-artist who later on got involved in some of the biggest new-beat hits. It’s a passionate musician and producer who more than 30 years after the early Signal Aout 42 hits remains a prolific and talented artist. He last year got involved in a new project called Grand ((O)) Signal while he also released an album as Jacky Meurisse Project. (by Inferno Sound Diaries) Q: After years of involvement and multiple music projects how did you finally come to release the solo-album “Crystal Blackout” and what means this album to you? Jacky: Why did I compose “Crystal Blackout”? It all happened quite naturally. I’m constantly busy composing music, which is something natural for me. I can’t say how much songs I’ve composed with all of my projects, but you also have to know I’ve plenty of unachieved songs in my PC. These songs haven’t been achieved because they don’t always fit with the expectations of my audience. I however think that most of these ‘music rushes’ have a real potential. In 2015 I together with Tcheleskov Ivanovitch (GrandChaos and live member of SA42) started […]

Aidan Baker & Tomas Järmyr – Werl (DCD Album – Consouling Sounds)

Genre/Influences: Psychedelic & apocalyptic-rock, ambient, experimental. Background/Info: Aidan Baker needs no real introduction, but Swedish drummer Tomas Järmyr is probably a less familiar name. Both artists have joined forces to compose this double disc featuring Aidan Baker on guitar and Tomas Järmyr on drums. The album “Werl” reveals eight compositions that have been released on the Belgian label Consouling Sounds. Content: “Werl” is characterized by a slow progression in structures and sound sculptures. The guitar playing has a real hypnotic feel, that brings you on a psychedelic voyage through imaginary spaces and later on revealing a darker and pure apocalyptic feeling. The second disc sounds a bit more ambient-like. “Werl” doesn’t contain many sound layera, which reinforces the impact of each sound. There’s an experimental approach with the playing of the instruments. The guitar sometimes becomes a kind of effect resulting in a rather abstract sound. + + + : “Werl” makes me think of an experimental jam session between two musicians. It sounds improvised and yet characterized by a real structure leading towards a sound cataclysm. There are noticeable experimental treats running through this opus while I especially like the more ambient side of the work like “Werl VI”. – […]
